East Asia
I had an opportunity to visit East Asia for the first time back in 2013. I was fascinated by the idea of culture shock and this region certainly provided a ton of that. Major highlights included steering wooden boats down the Mekong, trekking through the jungle of Chiang Mai with my brother, pushing through crowds in Hanoi on motorbikes, not being able to read anything at all in Tokyo, and watching the cherry blossoms bloom with the community in Osaka. The people of these places are vibrant, the culture is unforgettable, and many of the stories are simply impossible to explain.
